The Knights of Border Keep

The sun was setting over Border Keep. The tall stone walls glowed orange. Knights patrolled the walls. They looked out over the mountain pass. Sir Finn, the bridge guard, stood by the moat. He watched the water ripple. 'All is quiet,' he said. But then, something was wrong. The signal fire on the watchtower was out! 'Oh no!' cried Sir Finn. 'We need that fire to warn of danger!' He ran to find his friends. Sir Lila, the torch bearer, was lighting lanterns. 'Lila, the signal fire is out!' said Finn. 'We must fix it before dark!' Lila nodded. 'Let's find the others. We'll need a plan.' Together, they hurried to the keep. The knights had to work as a team. The mountain pass must be kept safe!

Sir Finn and Sir Lila rushed into the keep. The stone walls echoed with their footsteps. 'We need help!' Finn called. Sir Milo, the stone thrower, was polishing his catapult. 'What's wrong?' he asked. 'The signal fire is out,' Lila explained. 'We must relight it before nightfall.' Milo frowned. 'That’s serious. We’ll need everyone.' Just then, Sir Tessa, the mounted patrol knight, rode into the courtyard. Her horse’s hooves clattered on the stones. 'Tessa!' Finn waved. 'The signal fire is gone. We need a plan.' Tessa dismounted. 'Let’s find Sir Arlo. He’s good at making plans.' The knights hurried to the map room. Arlo, the signal fire watcher, was studying a large map. 'Arlo, we have a problem,' Lila said. Arlo looked up. 'The fire is out? That’s bad. But don’t worry. We’ll figure it out together.' The knights gathered around the map. They knew they had to work fast. The mountain pass depended on them!

Sir Arlo pointed to the map. 'The signal fire is on the highest tower. We need to get there quickly.' Sir Milo scratched his head. 'But the stairs are old and creaky. It’s not safe to rush.' Sir Tessa smiled. 'My horse can carry supplies up the path behind the tower. We can use the back way.' Sir Lila clapped her hands. 'Great idea! I’ll bring the torches and flint to light the fire.' Sir Finn nodded. 'I’ll guard the bridge in case anyone tries to cross while we’re busy.' Arlo looked at his friends. 'We’ll need to work together. Everyone has a job to do.' The knights agreed. They hurried to their tasks. The sun was sinking lower. Shadows grew long on the walls. The mountain pass was quiet, but the knights knew danger could come at any moment. They had to light the fire before it was too late!

Sir Tessa led her horse up the narrow path behind the tower. The air was cool, and the stars began to twinkle above. 'Careful, girl,' she whispered to her horse. 'We mustn’t slip.' Sir Lila followed close behind, carrying a bundle of torches. 'Hurry, Tessa! The fire must be lit soon.' Meanwhile, Sir Milo and Sir Arlo worked together to clear the old stairs. 'These stones are loose,' Milo said, frowning. 'We’ll need to fix them later.' Arlo nodded. 'For now, let’s make sure they’re safe to climb.' Down at the bridge, Sir Finn kept watch. The moat water shimmered in the moonlight. 'All quiet here,' he muttered. But he stayed alert. The knights knew their tasks were important. Each one depended on the others. The mountain pass was dark and silent. The signal fire had to be lit before danger arrived. Time was running out!

Sir Lila reached the top of the tower, her breath puffing in the cool night air. She set down the torches and pulled out her flint. 'Almost there,' she whispered. But the wind was strong, and the sparks kept blowing out. 'I need help!' she called. Sir Tessa tied her horse to a post and climbed up. 'Let’s shield the flint with our cloaks,' she suggested. Together, they crouched low, blocking the wind. Sir Milo and Sir Arlo arrived, panting from their climb. 'We’re here!' Milo said. 'What’s the hold-up?' 'The wind is too strong,' Lila explained. 'We’re trying again.' The knights huddled together, their cloaks forming a wall. Lila struck the flint once more. This time, a spark caught the torch! A small flame flickered to life. 'Yes!' cheered Tessa. But the flame was still weak. 'We need to feed it,' Arlo said. 'Quickly, gather more wood!' The knights scrambled to find dry branches. The fire had to grow strong enough to be seen from far away. The mountain pass was still dark, and the knights knew their work wasn’t done yet.

The knights worked quickly, adding dry branches to the small flame. Sir Lila blew gently on the fire, helping it grow. 'It’s getting bigger!' she said with a smile. Sir Milo stacked more wood carefully. 'We need it to burn bright and steady.' Sir Tessa stood watch, her eyes scanning the dark mountain pass. 'No signs of trouble yet,' she reported. Sir Arlo nodded. 'Good. The fire will keep everyone safe.' Down at the bridge, Sir Finn saw the first flicker of light from the tower. 'They did it!' he cheered. The signal fire grew stronger, its warm glow lighting up the night. The knights gathered around the fire, their faces shining with pride. 'We did it together,' said Lila. 'Teamwork made it possible.' The mountain pass was now safe, and the knights knew they could face any challenge as long as they worked as a team. The fire burned bright, a beacon of hope and friendship in the night.
